American spicy bacon pizza

This pizza is tasty, filling and surprisingly simple to make. The bacon and tomato complement one another perfectly but you can use any toppings you like. Author: The Modern Gastronomer
Ingredients
- 225g Strong white flour
- 2 tsp Dried yeast
- 1tsp Sugar
- 1/2tsp Salt
- 175ml Warm water + 1tbs olive oil
- 2tsp Mixed herbs
- 1 can of Chopped tomatoes
- 1 anchovy fillet (optional)
- 3 tbs olive oil
- 4 cloves of finely chopped garlic
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 2tbs chopped oregano
- salt and pepper
- 1/2tsp Chilli powder
- 225g drained mozzarella
- 200g Bacon
- 50g Chopped peppers
- 25g Ham
- Pizza cutter and shovel

Directions
'To make the pizza dough'
- Sift the flour into a bowl and mix in the yeast, sugar and salt.
- Stir in the olive oil and water into the flour and mix till a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes on a lightly floured surface. the dough should be smooth
- Transfer the dough into a lightly oiled bowl and leave it in a warm place for 30 minutes. It should double in size
'To make the pizza sauce.
- Heat a saucepan on a medium heat and add your anchovy with 2 table spoons of olive oil.
- Once the anchovy is sizzling add your garlic and your oregano and then turn the heat of the pan to low.
- Add the chilli powder and stir, let this continue to cook for 3-4 minutes
- Blend your chopped tomatoes until it becomes a puree. The add this to your saucepan
- Stir everything together then bring the sauce up to a simmer. Add your salt and pepper at this point too.
- Allow this sauce to simmer for 30-35 minutes. Ensure you taste and adjust the seasoning to what suits you.
- The pizza sauce is all done
'To assemble the pizza.'
- Preheat an oven to 220 C, then lightly brush a baking tray with oil.
- knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 1 minuted then divide it in half
- Roll each piece to a 10-inch circle to square. Then place them on them baking trays.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the pizza bases, it should go almost to the edge. Then slice your bacon and peppers into strips.
- Evenly spread the bacon, peppers and mozzarella on top of the pizza, the mozzarella should be placed last . Drizzle a bit of olive oil on top of the pizza.
- Cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the base is golden and the cheese is fully melted.
- Serve it immediately with any dip.
